Cool Bananas – The Vegologist

Situated in Maitland, Cool Bananas is a fresh produce delivery company that supplies almost all the greens and fruit you need.  They are locally run and deliver all over Cape Town. Delivery is free for orders over R300 with overnight delivery as a standard for orders put in before 12:00 the day before. 

I was thrilled with the customer service when I placed my order and had to clear up a few confusions on my side regarding payment, and even more thrilled with the high level of sanitation and precaution that was taken by the delivery team.

Sepial’s Kitchen 

This soulful little Korean restaurant has quickly become a Salt River favourite. Grown from humble beginnings with the love and support from the surrounding community.  Sepial is known for her kimchi, KFC (Korean fried chicken) and her wonderful array of freshly made broths and sauces. They have hit the streets with deliveries once to twice a week which means you can enjoy authentic, delicious creations of love in your own home. The fluid menu also keeps boredom at bay, allowing you to buy whole meals or just aspects of them to get creative in your kitchen with most of the hard work already done for you. 

There are vegan options for almost all her dishes too! 

Delivery fee varies depending on location but maxes out at R50 with a minimum order of R200.

Truck Norris Burgers 

There is nothing better than a juicy, freshly made burger.  It is even tastier when minimal effort is required for said burger. Despite lockdown being downgraded to level 4, we can expect to be at home for the next couple of weeks so it may be a while before you’re able to roll up to your favourite burger joint for a quickie.  Luckily the team at Truck Norris have a fantastic burger kit for the family (or just you) that includes everything you need. All you need to do is cook, construct and consume.  Everything can be frozen for a later date and comes in easy-to-divvy-up portions so no arguing over that last slice of cheese.  There are beef, chicken, and vegan options available from R280, delivery included. They also sell the tastiest frozen potato and sweet potato chips for R30/kg and they disappeared as quickly as I could cook them.
