Worldrobe starts in the community wardrobe, a space where creators can add their finished products.
In our prototype, we focus on Masego’s story and world. Masego is a suburban girl, who consciously started her slow fashion journey in 2016 after watching the True Cost documentary which unveiled how unethical the fashion industry is. Admittedly her slow fashion journey started before 2016, thanks to her mother, Kyoko Kimura, who not only filled Masego’s wardrobe with pre-loved clothes but also taught her how to work with wool, natural dye, and mending clothes.
A garment floats in the wardrobe space, made by Masego. Clicking on the garment transports us to Masego’s world. Masego’s world, chosen by her as the creator of her world, is her living space in her home. Her space is filled with items that hold stories, two of the items are floating beaconing the viewer to engage with them.
We click on the first item and it teleports us to a space where we learn of the wool process from fibre to crocheted piece through a conversation Masego has with her mother. We teleport back to her living space and click on the second item we teleport to a natural environment. We watch Masego darning a thrifted jersey as we hear her talk us through what she’s doing. After the tutorial, we teleport back to her living space and out back into the wardrobe.
