Stylists have become infamous for their role in the marketing industry, which exists to constantly convince us to buy more. But, this is what styling has become, not what it was intended to be. Styling can remind us about the potential of our clothes and how we can wear them in many different ways as a medium to feel like the most authentic versions of ourselves. With this in mind, there is a growing movement of stylists reclaiming this role and encouraging us to reconnect with our clothes, our heritages and advocating for creativity and inclusivity over consumption.
