Spiritgirl Activewear

Spiritgirl produces high-quality activewear made locally using recycled textiles. The brand is committed to tackling plastic waste in the ocean, pledging to redirect 1kg of ocean-bound plastic for every Spiritgirl apparel sold through partnering with CleanHub.

Resources and materials

• The ECONYL® Yarn Collection is made from regenerated nylon yarns and other post-consumer materials
• Printed collections are made from recycled plastic bottles (recycled PET) and woven with Spandex

Making and manufacturing

• Garments are designed in Sea Point, Cape Town, printed in Elsie’s River, and made by sewing teams in Bontehewel and Athlone
• Works closely with the factory to ensure workers are treated with respect, work in safe, clean conditions and receive a fair salary

Social and cultural

• Partnered with CleanHub, pledging to recover 1kg of ocean plastic waste for every order sold

Product and design

• Prints are 50% UV-protected to reduce fading and increase longevity
• Uses sublimation printing with heat transfer, reducing harmful dyes in water systems

Packaging and distribution

• No plastic is used in packaging or shipping
