Resources and materials

• FIELDS exclusively uses natural fibres
• Their mohair and Merino wool are sourced, spun and dyed in South Africa
• Their cotton is processed, dyed and woven in Southern Africa
• Purchases locally spun and sourced yarns for woven and knitted pieces.
• The merino wool used adheres to the Responsible Wool Standard.
• Wool is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.

Making and manufacturing

• All design work is done in-house.
• Garments are manufactured in specialised local factories within a 40-minute drive from the Cape Town flagship store.
• Chooses manufacturers that are responsibly run, uphold local craftsmanship, pay fairly, and treat their employees with dignity.
• The dyehouse uses recycled water in the dyeing process.

Social and cultural

• All manufacturing is done with specialist factories in Cape Town and Southern Africa
• Supports the Mountain Falls ZEROPET recycling initiative
• Prioritises working with and giving a platform to young up-and-coming African designers
• Predominantly employs women

Product and design

• Garments are trans-seasonal with simple and classic cuts
• The design process prioritises longevity, with construction methods optimised for seam strength and fabric durability
• Samples are available for sourcing and renting
• Patterns are designed to use 85% or more of fabric to minimise waste
• Knitwear is produced with the fully fashioned technique, a more efficient way to use yarn
• Offers repair and alterations for the lifespan of garments
• Ranges are size-inclusive and gender-fluid

Packaging and distribution

• Items are packaged in cotton tote bags made from overrun fabric
